My work captures small, unplanned moments shared between friends that are often in social
spaces like parties or neighborhood bars. I paint people as they are when they’re not thinking
about how they’re being seen. AKA, when they might be slouched, mid-sentence, or even bored
in a group of people. There’s an honesty that slips in when no one’s performing.
My paintings start with quick phone photos taken during these nights out, but the oil slows
everything down. Through layering, editing, and choosing to leave out details, I stretch fleeting
moments into something more purposeful and raw. Drawing — especially with ink — has
shaped how I work since it’s taught me to let certain marks stay and embrace memory’s
messiness.
Even though these scenes come from my life, I hope they feel familiar — an invitation to feel
included.
